Frequently Asked Questions
How much is it to sponsor 1 child? Each child sponsorship is $35.00 a month. There are over 15 children that need to be sponsored so if you would like to sponsor more than 1 child at a time please indicate so on the “Commitment Card” in this packet. Who do I pay my money to? All money (cash or check) is to be paid to The Journey Church of the Nazarene. Make checks payable to “The Journey Church of the Nazarene”. You may mail payments into The Journey Church office address or bring it to one of The Journey Church gatherings and place it in the offering, clearly marked please. As soon as we have automatic withdrawal available, that will be another sufficient way to pay. When is my monthly sponsorship money due each month? Sponsorship money is due by the last day of each month. Every month, the sponsorship money is sent out at the same time and if we have money coming in late, that can affect your child and the church. Can I send more than one month's amount toward my sponsorship support? Your sponsorship money may be prepaid quarterly, semi-annually or annually, whichever is most convenient for you. When you send gifts for more than one month, it saves you time and postage. How do I know my donations are going where you say they are going? The Journey Church is an honorable non-profit organization that is seeking to better the lives of these children with the direction of God. We are excited about this entire project that God has blessed us to be part of and we will do nothing to interfere with God’s will. What does my sponsorship money provide? Every month, your money is providing a roof over your sponsored child’s’ head, appropriate clothes to attend school, shoes, school supplies, healthy food and personal hygiene products.
Since the children being sponsored all live in the same household, we would prefer to not have extra gifts sent to your sponsored child as it can make for very hurt feelings. If you would like to send extra money to help Mary, the mother, get extra things for the kids that is fine. You would need to send it the same way you would a regular monthly payment. Please mark these extra gifts clearly. Tips for writing your sponsored child:
The
harsh grip of poverty can make a child feel helpless. But your sponsorship gives
children hope that their lives are in God's loving hands. And God's love gives
all children great worth. Your letters are an important way to reinforce that
message of hope. These letters echo the words of Jesus: "Don't be afraid; you
are worth far more than sparrows!" (Luke 12:7) The connection that you make by
writing your sponsored child is a powerful reminder for you, as well. You are
making a difference. Here are some helpful hints about writing your sponsored child: Consider you sponsored child's environment and culture. Be sensitive to not mention your material possessions or money, as this could make your child feel uncomfortable or deprived. A simple one-page letter is ideal. Share about yourself, your family and you interests. Write about children you know. Use colorful pens and decorate your letters! Let your sponsored child know that you are praying for him or her. Find out about the customs, climate, culture and country where you child lives. You'd be surprised what you might have in common! Encourage your sponsored child in their education, hobbies and endeavors. If you wish to tuck something special into the envelope along with your letter, please follow these helpful guidelines: Send only flat, inexpensive items that can easily fit into a 6" x 9" envelope. A few ideas are photos, bookmarks, stamps, and stickers. Mail your envelope to the church address.
